The Fertitta Veterans Program has been one of the highlights of my experience at Stern. During the six-week summer program, fellow Veteran classmates and I completed two core classes, received tailored career coaching, and gained early access to networking and recruiting opportunities at top firms. These opportunities proved to be invaluable and were instrumental in achieving my business school goals.

Fertitta Veterans MBA Program

Thanks to the generous $15 million endowment from alumnus Lorenzo (MBA ’93) and brother Frank J. Fertitta III, NYU Stern established the Fertitta Veterans MBA Program in 2016 to attract the most talented veterans in the country seeking a full-time business education. In the Spring of 2020, the endowment doubled from $15 million to $30 million. The uniquely designed summer session will include an early start on selected coursework; career programming with access to corporations and alums; engagement with veteran alum mentors; and social activities. The program begins in July and concludes just before LAUNCH orientation in August.

Stern projects that approximately 25 incoming full-time MBA military students accepted into the Fertitta Veterans Program will receive scholarship support that reduces their tuition to a flat $31,600 per year. Students who qualify for veterans benefits, including Yellow Ribbon funding, will continue to be eligible for those benefits. In addition, all U.S. military veterans and active duty students in the Two-Year Full-time MBA Program are eligible to participate in the summer session, even those who are not awarded a Fertitta Veterans MBA Scholarship or are not using Yellow Ribbon benefits.

Consideration for the Fertitta Veterans MBA program

Interested U.S. military veterans and active duty full-time MBA applicants will be informed in their admission letter if they are selected for the Fertitta Veterans MBA scholarship. We encourage all U.S. military veterans to participate in the Fertitta summer session, with or without the Fertitta scholarship.

We understand that not every applicant will be able to participate in the Fertitta Veterans MBA Program. However, if students cannot participate, they can join the regular MBA program that begins in the Fall and may still receive the Fertitta Veterans scholarship.

Participation is mandatory for students who commit to the Fertitta Veterans MBA Program. It is an academic program, and all of our academic programs require attendance and participation. See here for the complete academic requirements.

GI BILL

YELLOW RIBBON + Fertitta Veterans living stipend

NYU Stern is pleased to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. This program is only available to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who are 100% eligible for Post 9/11 VA Benefits. During the 2023-2024 academic year, Stern will contribute awards of up to $31,600 per academic year to each eligible MBA student who elects to use Yellow Ribbon benefits. The Veterans Administration will match these funds for a total award of up to $63,200 per year per student. NYU Stern will also provide a $20,000 Fertitta Veterans Living Stipend to two-year Full-time MBA students who elect to use Yellow Ribbon benefits. Students cannot receive both the Fertitta Living Stipend and the Fertitta Veterans MBA Scholarship. Students who do not use Yellow Ribbon benefits will separately be considered for the Fertitta Veterans MBA Scholarship. Please visit the Department of Veterans Affairs website for additional eligibility information.

“The summer was an invaluable experience and it gave us a leg up during the fall semester. Not only did we complete two classes, but we also took corporate treks every week to learn about different companies and industries. Finally, I loved getting to know the rest of the veterans because the summer gave us the opportunity to bond as a cohort.”
