A career in social enterprise means working for or starting an organization that operates in a way that positively impacts society. The field is not limited to non-profit work, and the impact can benefit any social cause like education, health, equality, or environmental concerns. Social Enterprise recruiting is informal. Most students recruit for their desired functional role within companies that positively impact communities. These positions are split between companies whose focus is solely on making a social impact and ones that have Corporate Social Responsibility departments dedicated to it. Another option is to start up a business with a social mission. To help facilitate this, the Social Entrepreneurship Association (SEA) provides opportunities for MBA candidates to expand their network and meet representatives from organizations doing social good through panel discussions. SEA also receives job postings that do not go through the Office of Career Development and organizes a mentoring program to try to guarantee as much success as possible.
